Pinned it/Did it! ~~~ Guest Book Alternative

This past weekend our Sunday School class had a baby shower/fellowship by the pool.  We had a cookout and let the kids swim.  I didn't want the typical formal guestbook, so I found a few ideas on Pinterest that got me started.  All the guests were bringing children's books for gifts, so I thought bookmarks were the way to go!
These were my supplies: Tiny punch, paper cutter, Behr paint chips (I chose the lilac/lavender colors since that is what the baby's room will be decorated in.), ribbon, card stock and glue stick.

I cut the paint chips so that you could not see any of the writing.  (These extra-large paint chips worked great!)

I had lots of fun with the punches.  Some of the bookmarks I punched into the paint chips, and the others I glued the punches onto them.  I put card stock on the back to give it more weight (and to cover up the writing).  I put a hole punch in the top and added the ribbon.  I put them all in a basket and the guests signed them.

I hope baby and family will enjoy their keepsake bookmarks for years to come!

"Jesus Loves Me This I Know" Frame (Vinyl on Glass)

Check out this clever way my sister used the popular vinyl lettering for decor in the nursery.  I love how the rest of the song is put all around the outside of the frame.  Now the wording can be placed anywhere in the nursery, and moved around as desired.

I did something similar a while back on wood.
I sure am glad I did so I could take it with us when we moved!

My Autumn Mantle (and Candlesticks Re-do)

I had a lot of fun putting together my mantle for fall this year.  I loved having something new to incorporate...my new candlesticks.

My dad made me these great candlesticks for Christmas.  I was so excited to get large ones like this!

I decided white candlesticks would better fit my decor.  It took 3 or 4 coats of white paint.
A close-up of the finished candlestick and my decoupaged pumpkin from an earlier post.

I added a quote from Emily Bronte to my plate.

These were two Pinterest pins that inspired the idea:
It's the little things that make a house a home...

My First Try at Chalkboard Art (Pinned it/Did it)

One of my Pinterest boards is Bulletin Boards and Chalkboards.  I recently gave this pin a try:

Romans 12:12 chalkboard art

Here is my attempt:
(I used a different translation, the NIV.)
I had a lot of fun...and I think making art out of scripture helps with the memory part.

I have a chalkboard in the laundry room. In the past I have used it as a place to keep notes and a To Do List.  I decided that since I spend a lot of time in there either washing clothes or ironing, the chalkboard would be put to better use as a place to write scripture that I wanted to memorize.  I have found that it works great!  Why haven't I thought of this before?
