Blog Post Find of the Day...."How to Get More Out of the Preached Word of God"

About a year or so ago, I had the title written for a blog post: "4 Ways to Hear a Better Sermon Every Sunday."  I never finished it.  I guess I worried about sounding too "preachy" as the pastor's wife.  Today I read this great blog post, "How to Get More Out of the Preached Word of God" by Shane Garrison. He said all that I wanted to say, plus a little more...and way more eloquently.  (Though I would add, "Pray for your Pastor.") Check it out....and see if you get more out of this Sunday's sermon this week!

Blog Find of the Week~~Encouragement Corner

I want to introduce you to my new friend, Tessa.  We met last week at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary while our oh-so-studious husbands were in their doctoral class. We had fun chatting about ministry, family and blogging.  Her blog is Encouragement Corner (Godly Encouragement for Everyday Life).  Each Saturday she posts a devotional.  Not just any devotional, but one rooted in scripture.  I think you will find her devotionals each week to be not only an encouragement, but challenging as well!

Blog Post Find of the Day: Sharon Watson-- "Story Writing: The Resurrection"

I came across a wonderful writing idea (via a link on facebook from a fellow homeschooler) for my 7th grader tomorrow...and just had to share!  You'll find it HERE. It's called "Story Writing: The Resurrection".  Perfect writing prompt for the day before Good Friday!  She has lots of other great writing prompt ideas as well!

Blog Post Find of the Day~~~Modesty, Mtv and Who's Really Dressing Your Daughter?

Check out this great article on modesty by Ryan Visconti at churchleaders.com.

My two favorite quotes from his article:
"I wish more men had seen my wife in a bikini before we got married," said no Christian man ever.

Is a bikini modest? I don't know, but I do know that you can't legally wear any less clothing in public.

Blog Post Find of the Day: Preschool Discipline with No Time Out

If you teach preschoolers at church you will want to listen to this 20 minute PODCAST titled: Preschool Discipline with No Time Out.  Mark is spot-on.

I had the chance to meet "Mr. Mark at the VBS Institute I attended this past January. (He led a conference on decorations for VBS.)  We had a great time talking about learning centers and preschoolers!  His blog, Mr. Mark's Classroom is a great resource for anyone teaching kids at church.

Find of the Day: "Holiness in a Hook-up Culture"

My preacher husband passed along this great article and I just had to share.  It was written by Candi Finch, an assistant professor of Theology in Women's Studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  I love the honesty in this piece.  A must read for anyone who has a daughter still living at home...or a son for that matter.

Blog Post Find of the Day

Check out this article. It first speaks to what it means to be a keeper of the home .  Interesting how the author uses this as the springboard on which to speak to her main concern: How seemingly more and more Christians are allowing culture to pervade their thoughts, minds and heart.   Very challenging and thought provoking.
